About Us — The Story of Smart Cash Sheet™ and Its Founder, Mari Cox

Smart Cash Sheet™ didn't begin as a personal finance app. It began as a cash-flow projection tool built in a moment of crisis.

In 2009, during the recession, families and small businesses around founder Mari Cox were struggling to stay afloat. Bills were falling behind, income was shrinking, and uncertainty was overwhelming. As an accountant and bookkeeper, Mari became the "first call" for people who were terrified of not knowing whether their money would last.

They all asked the same urgent question: "Can you tell me what the next few weeks will look like… and what about the next few months?"

Traditional accounting software like QuickBooks only showed historical data — what had already happened. But people didn't need history. They needed visibility, timing, and certainty. They needed a cash-flow forecast.

So with a sense of urgency and necessity, Mari opened Excel and created a simple, timing-based cash-flow projection sheet that mapped income and bills across upcoming days, weeks, and months. It wasn't designed to be a product — it was designed to help people breathe again during one of the hardest economic periods in modern history.

And it worked.

To this day, several small businesses still rely on the original Excel version of Smart Cash Sheet™ — the same system Mari first built in 2009 to help owners prevent cash-flow emergencies.

From Numbers to Emotions — What Changed Since 2009?

Over time, Mari discovered that money problems weren't just mathematical — they were deeply emotional.

Stress, fear, shame, urgency, and hope all influenced financial decisions just as much as numbers. So she expanded the tool to help people understand:

Smart Cash Sheet™ lived inside Excel from 2009 until December 15, 2025, when it officially evolved into a modern fintech platform under Cashintel, LLC. This first version of the platform is fully web-based and mobile-friendly, designed for both families and small businesses.

By 2025, one truth had become undeniable: The world didn't need another budgeting app. It needed a simple, calming, timing-focused financial wellness platform — the kind that had already proven itself for 16 years.

So Smart Cash Sheet™ was rebuilt as a comprehensive financial clarity tool that:

About the Founder — Mari Cox

Mari Cox is the founder of Cashintel, LLC and the creator of Smart Cash Sheet™. She is a passionate advocate for financial clarity, emotional wellness, and accessible financial tools that serve families, professionals, and small businesses.

Her educational background includes:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, University of Puerto Rico
• MBA in Business Technology, University of Phoenix
• Business Doctorate (in progress), Capella University
• U.S. Presidential Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement

Mari is also a published author, a dedicated financial coach, and fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
